This listed, 19th century Italianate villa now hosts chocolate making weekends and cookery schools. On the last weekend of each month you could learn how to cook with chocolate with chocolatier Allan Collier, formerly patisserie chef at The Ritz.
Allan was pictured in a Telegraph article about the hotel and the chocolate wearing a Nisbets tunic - a retailer we partner with over on our chef uniforms site. Mr Collier (or one of his trainees) will show how to make a ganache (creame poured over chopped, dark chocolate) and how to make fillings for moulded chocolates.

Organic chocolate company Green and Blacks have announced a product recall for some jars of 300g Organic Hot Chocolate. Some jars may contain glass fragments.
Any consumer who has bought the 300g jars with the lot code L7348 (look on top of the lid) should dispose of the product and obtain a full refund by returning the lid to:

I’ve just scoffed a packet of mini Creme eggs - although I did let my wife have a couple too!
I enjoy these better than a standard size Creme Egg - must have something to do with the fact that you can eat a few of the mini ones but I’d never dream of eating more than one normal size one in one go! Think you get about 7 in a packet. Inside they’re the same as Daddy Creme Egg:

We’ve forgotten about a Christmas present that we had received - a box of Marks and Spencers organic chocolates:
As the shells were nice and thick these chocolates had quite a chunky feel to them. Although they were organic I wouldn’t say that I could tell at all. Would certainly try again!
Anyone else tried them - what did you think?
According to the official website Selfridges is exclusively selling Zenezuelan Black Chocolate and has been doing so since Feb 19th. At time of writing it doesn’t appear to be available online at Selfridges.
So unless someone from the company tell me otherwise I presume that’s still the case. So for that reason alone I won’t approve comments that suggest alternative places to purchase the chocolate from. I’m not being rude or trying to be awkward - just being respectful to the brand and their chosen retail outlet.

If you’re a viewer of Channel 4 you might have caught sight last night of the first of 4 episodes of Willie’s Wonky Chocolate Factory - I missed it !
The Willie in question is Willie Harcourt-Cooze and he owns the Venezuelan Black chocolate company. According to his website, Willie is the only small cacao grower and producer in the UK. He harvests his cacao from his farm, high in the mountains of Henri Pittier National Park in Zenezuela and then ships it to his chocolate factory in Devon.
Did anyone watch the first episode? Was it good?

As a parent myself I’m always looking on the packaging of my childrens sweets and confectionary to see what’s actually in the ingredients. Some sweets are more E numbers than any other ingredient …they go in the bin.
I spotted an article in The Telegraph business section reporting that Thorntons are enjoying sales success with their enhanced range of additive-free childrens chocolates. To me this indicates that there is evidently a consumer demand for such products. They should produce additive-free chocolates for us grown-ups too!
