Move Over Snickers – Marathon Is Back
Remember the trusty Marathon chocolate bar? Of course you do …if you can remember back to 1990! Back then, the manufacturer Mars decided to rebrand Marathon as Snickers to bring it inline with it’s global operation.
Snickers is the best selling chocolate bar of all time with annual sales around the world of £1 billion …that’s a lot of chocolate and peanuts!
Apparently the marathon name has been re-registered as a UK trademark and the company is to use the original name for a three month trial. I never did care much for the snickers name but how about you, what do you prefer?
as marathon was part of my youth i say bring it back.
I never did like the name change why do makers do this is it to p… us off or just confuse us,who knows

Have refused to say that irritating SN…. word since the day they changed it… didnt realise it has been 20 years! I now live in Australia and still ask for a MARATHON BAR when i want what has been my favourite chocolate treat for many years. I only purchase from places that know what an awkward bugger i am as they have no idea what im talking about otherwise
I will never call it a Sn…. it will ALWAYS be a MARATHON… may that insidious word never pass my lips till i kark it!
Well it’s always been a “snickers” bar here in the US, but we too would think it kind of odd if they suddenly changed the name to something else because some lame advertising w*** thought it would be a good idea. They do it all the time with brand & store names too. So I know what you mean and hope that they change it back for your sake!
